In 1983, a small number of attorneys set up a nonprofit agency in response to the growing homeless population in Atlanta. Due to the overwhelming need for specialized legal services focused specifically on homeless people, the agency quickly grew. In 1995, the Law Center received funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, which enabled the agency to move into its own office and hire additional staff.

After more than 20 years of service, the Georgia Law Center continues to play critical role in the continuum of care for homeless people in the metro Atlanta area. By breaking down the barriers of homelessness and poverty, the Law Center helps the most disadvantaged in our community become self-sufficient.
